WEB 1,2 AND 3 EXPLAINED

Web 1 was characterised with static web pages. It was literally a "read only" internet in that  the users could only consume informations.

Platforms like Facebook and Netflix didn't exist then, only websites like Britannica,Yahoo, IPP, HTTP,URI and HTML provided technological infrastructure, all these were happening around the 1990s.

Around the 2000s, further development and innovation started taking place such as the JavaScript, HTMLS and CSS, the resultwas the gradual rise of web2.

Web2 unlike the web1 which only focused in information display now focuses on information and interaction between the users. Users make their data available to service providers such as social media, e-commerce or payment providers, thereby enabling these applications to function, in other words; web2 users are no longer just consumers, they are also the product.

An example is Facebook were two users might be seeing different information depending on the data they both presented it submitted to Facebook.

WEB2 TO WEB3

(Problem of centralization)

Yes obviously it's true that web2 have changed our method of communication and to a very much extents enhanced the communication of our present generation.

It's also nice to say that it have increased wealth and made life easier. That's said. but it obviously did not come without it's own disadvantages.

Though we make calls via WhatsApp, shop on Amazon and pay via online banking, it should be known that in all these web2 is based server- client structure, meaning a centralized private cooperate control and own the data, meaning that they have barrier to entry for potential competitors. Virtually all the web2 applications are controlled be private coporation.

This is the main problem web3 is set out to solve by replacing the centralized server-client infrastructure with distributed ledger(block chain). So instead of all data being stored on a centralized sever, it will be scattered across a decentralized computer network. This will now make web2 to be obsolate.

You may like: on-boarding people from web2 into web3

Example anyone sending money from one bank to another today uses the centralized server of that bank provider. The bank serves as an intermediary of which the user have to hand over all the data to the bank involved and rely on them to execute the transaction correctly the bank of course a fee for the service.

As we know in web3 banking today, through block chain technology money can be sent without a third party or intermediary, the web3 include Bitcoin block chain which verifies the accuracy of the transaction through mathematics and computing power.
